The Senate approved with amendments a bill of law on control, transparency, and accountability for non-profit organizations, which now moves to the Chamber of Deputies for consideration. If passed, the Ministry of Economy and Finance ("MEF") will be responsible for its implementation and will establish a National Registry of Non-Profit Organizations ("NPOs").

To ensure transparency, NPOs will be required to report in detail on the use of funds received, submitting a semi-annual accountability report to the MEF. The law also provides for fines in case of noncompliance.
