FERRERE advised Microsoft on the preparation for installing its first artificial intelligence lab in Latin America, to be located in the Technology Park of Uruguay’s Technological Laboratory (LATU). The initiative’s aim is to foster innovation in the country and throughout the region.
Concretely, the FERRERE team, led by partner Sebastián Ramos, advised on the applicable regulatory framework and on drafting the contract between Microsoft and LATU.
The LATU Technology Park is a space bringing together companies and public and private organizations related to technology, education, entrepreneurism, research, creativity and innovation. This ecosystem provides an environment conducive to international projection and development of technological projects.
The Microsoft AI Co-Innovation Lab, the only one of its kind in the region, will be joining other laboratories already existing in the United States, Germany and China. Its objective is to offer companies from Uruguay and the region access to a local team and global network of experts who will work together with the organizations to co-create solutions to the challenges of the different value chains and of society, in areas ranging from agriculture to education, under the direction of Juan Lavista, Chief Data Scientist in Uruguay for Microsoft Corporation.
FERRERE’s work, led by Ramos, involved a broad team of practitioners, including Federico Lemos, Lucía Rosso and Walter Planells.
