FERRERE obtained two recognitions in the inaugural edition of the Legal Media Group Awards 2024, which spotlight the most outstanding firms, programs and practitioners in the area of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
Specifically, FERRERE was recognized in the Social Impact Award category for its advice and work with Asociación Down del Uruguay, in the context of the Social Security Reform Act, which led to design of a policy adapted to persons with Down’s syndrome (and other similar syndromes). This change, driven by our practitioners María Eugenia Cal and Lucía Seguí, allows individuals in this situation to retire when they reach 45 years of age with 15 (or more) years of service.
In turn, the FERRERE partner Verónica Raffo was distinguished as DEI leader in Latin America. In addition to being an ambassador for the chief actions implemented in-house by the firm, Raffo is recognized for her work on gender, equal opportunities and entrepreneurship together with local and international organizations, in the ongoing drive for more diverse and equitable environments, including the Vance Center for International Justice, Vital Voices, and Enseña Uruguay, among others.
The awards, presented recently in New York, “not only celebrated the achievements of the winners but also served as a call to action for the entire legal community.” Legal Media Group asserted that “By honouring those who lead by example, these awards aim to inspire others to prioritise social impact and inclusion in their own practices.”
