Ferrere (Uruguay) has helped German turbine manufacturer Enercon sign a 50-megawatt power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uruguay’s state-run utilities’ provider UTE.
Enercon signed the agreement through its Uruguayan subsidiary Ladaner, which was awarded the right to build and operate a wind farm in Cerro Grande, northern Uruguay, for which Enercon will provide the turbines, in 2012. The Aurich-based company already has a presence in the country, which has particularly favourable conditions for wind energy. It operates two wind farms in Tacuarembó with a collective output of 100 megawatts.
The value of the transaction, which closed on 22 August, was kept under wraps. UTE was advised by in-house counsel.
