New projects will include works for highway rehabilitation and for conversion of the Viru Viru airport.
The Bolivian Highway Administration (ABC) launched a bid process for works involved in rehabilitation of the La Paz – El Alto highway. The cost of the works has been estimated at USD 32 million.
Additionally, the Ministry of Public Works has announced a master plan for conversion of the Viru Viru airport, in Santa Cruz, into an international cargo and passenger hub, with an initial investment calculated at USD 400 million, and the total project exceeding USD 1 billion.
The government is currently seeking financing for the project’s first step, which is the specific design defining the new air terminal’s cargo and passenger capacity. The financing process is expected to be completed by year-end, and preparation of the study will be undertaken in the 2016 period.
