Urban tramway Project
The municipality of Santa Cruz de la Sierra approved a law permitting performance of the feasibility study for the city’s urban tramway project announced by the central government at the outset of the year.
The law declares the project to be a priority and creates a commission to coordinate with the national government on its implementation.
The study will provide data on project cost, energy matrix (gas or electric) and the tram route.
Project investment will be approximately USD 750 million.
Propylene and polypropylene plants
The Central Bank of Bolivia will grant the State-owned Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) an extraordinary credit, under concessional conditions, for up to nearly USD 2 billion for construction of propylene and polypropylene plants to be located in the department of Tarija.
The conceptual engineering study for construction of the two plants was completed in 2014. Works are expected to begin in 2015.
In the coming weeks the government is expected to announce the dates for a FEED-EPC tender for the plants under a convertible agreement, with a view to startup in 2021.
