Christian has vast tax experience and specializes in structuring international investment schemes. In turn, he focuses on planning and maximizing financial efficiency.
He is experienced in accompanying clients on business restructuring processes, like mergers and spinoffs, where he ensures appropriate implementation of tax strategies. He also represents clients in administrative proceedings before tax and customs authorities, as well as in tax appeals, in both the administrative (AIT, the Tax Appeals Authority) and judicial venues, with a view to ensuring effective defense of his clients’ interests. He also advises companies on transfer pricing issues and application of double taxation agreements.
Christian has experience with an important boutique tax law firm, where he advised agroindustrial, farm, telecommunications, retail and other companies. He also participated in due diligence processes and corporate reorganizations, advising foreign clients.
He earned an LL.M. cum laude in International Tax Law from Vienna University of Economics and Business (Wirtschaftsuniversität - WU). He also graduated with honors from Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo” in La Paz, Bolivia, and has completed international tax specialization courses at Harvard University (Cambridge, United States) and Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (Spain), and the Diploma Program in Negotiation, Conciliation and Arbitration at Universidad Privada Boliviana.
He is director/secretary of the Bolivia branch of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), member of the Tax Commission of ICC Bolivia and of the Bolivian Tax Studies Institute (Instituto Boliviano de Estudios Tributarios - IBET). He was also national tax rapporteur for Bolivia to the International Bar Association (IBA).
At professional level he has been recognized as Rising Star in the International Tax Review - ITR World Tax ranking since 2023 in the categories of direct tax, tax controversies and transfer pricing. He has been an instructor of graduate national and international tax law subjects at Universidad Torcuatto di Tella, Universidad Privada del Valle, and at the Chamber of Industry, Commerce, Tourism and Services of Santa Cruz (CAINCO).
He has authored scientific articles in books on tax law for publishers such as Linde (Austria) and Aranzandi (Spain). He has also been a speaker and panelist in diverse forums on national and international tax subjects.
