She works in the area of tax advisory as well as litigation. She also provides general corporate advice for companies in different business areas, joint ventures, commercial agreements, and M&A transactions.
She is regularly involved in deal structuring and tax planning for a variety of local and foreign companies, including Sequoia’s first private equity in Latin America.
In recent years she has advised numerous digital economy companies, such as Google, Airbnb, HBO and Microsoft, on the legal implications of their operations in Uruguay.
She has also participated in the Oil & Gas area, assisting diverse industry players (oil companies like British Gas and Inpex, related goods and services providers like CHC Helicopters and New Force Energy Services) on the design of appropriate structures for maximizing the tax benefits granted by the Uruguayan government.
She regularly advises HNWIs with tax residence or interests in Uruguay on the structuring of their investments, and wealth and estate planning.
She also has an intense litigations practice and has actively participated in leading tax cases, including challenge of the shutdown of Uruguay’s largest supermarket chain sought by the Tax Administration, actions for legislative liability for violation of tax exemption guarantees contained in the Forestry Law, and for nullity of regulations on digital market transnational income before the Administrative Claims Court.
She is the author of articles published in the tax revue Revista Tributaria and other specialized publications. She co-authored an annotated and compared edition of the Uruguayan Customs Code.
She regularly is a speaker at specialized international conferences, and was designated national rapporteur of the Tax Division of the International Bar Association (IBA).
She is member of the Chair of Financial Law at Universidad de Montevideo.
