José Mateo Ostria earned his degree as attorney from Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo” (La Paz, Bolivia). He holds a Master’s in Private Property Law from Universidad de Salamanca and Universidad Pública de Navarra (Spain), as well as a diploma in Commercial and Investment Arbitration from Universidad Austral (Buenos Aires, Argentina). He is a member of the Bolivian Institute of Arbitration and Conciliation (IBAC-40).
His practice focuses on corporate, contract, administrative and regulatory law, with particular emphasis on highly regulated industries such as energy, hydrocarbons and mining.
In this context, he advises local and international clients on structuring, implementing and performing complex transactions and projects, including business collaboration and strategic alliance agreements, involving the design of contract and corporate structures. He also provides advice on regulatory compliance, including management of the associated legal risks.
He has experience in drafting, negotiating and reviewing civil, commercial and administrative agreements, including contracts related to projects in regulated sectors. He is involved in due diligence processes, mergers and acquisitions, corporate organization and restructurings, as well as preparation of legal reports, advice on corporate governance and legal project management.
