His practice focuses primarily on the corporate area, mergers and acquisitions, project financing and real estate.
In the transactions and financing area, Mateo has experience in high profile local and international deals, advising on mergers and acquisitions, foreign investments, project financing and complex transaction agreements. In the past, Mateo has advised IDB Invest, DEG and FMO, among others.
In real estate law, he has worked for investors, developers, builders, buyers and sellers, on commercial and residential projects, and has vast experience in due diligence reviews of properties and sellers, drafting and negotiating complex agreements for purchase-sale, down payments, leases, and analysis of specific regulatory issues. In the past, Mateo has advised the Altius Group, Urban Domus, and Avanza, among others.
Mateo also has experience in government procurement processes, advising local and foreign companies on all stages and forms of government contracting.
Before joining FERRERE, Mateo worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was part of the Office for Economic Integration (responsible for the country’s foreign affairs with MERCOSUR member countries) and later at the Trade Negotiations Office (responsible for coordinating MERCOSUR trade negotiations with all regions of the world and for the country’s participation in the Latin American Integration Association - ALADI).
He graduated cum laude as attorney from Universidad Católica “Nuestra Señora de la Asunción” in 2016. Additionally, in 2020 he completed the degree program in Political Science, cum laude, at Universidad Católica “Nuestra Señora de la Asunción”.
