She has broad experience in litigation related to banking activity. Since 2018 she has been a member of the team defending international financial institutions in more than 50 claims deriving from the 2002 banking crisis in Uruguay, for an amount exceeding 1.6 billion dollars. She also acted in disputes in connection with three wind and biomass parks against the electric utility UTE, and in complex litigation deriving from oil exploration with ANCAP, Uruguay’s national oil company.
She regularly advises banks, insurers, construction companies, agribusinesses and industrial companies.
Sofía is a member of the Uruguayan Probatory Law Forum. Her pro bono work has included acting as tutor in the tutorship program for the Liceo Jubilar high school. She also collaborates on an honorary basis in advising the Mujeres con Alas association, and is part of Global Shapers Montevideo, the World Economic Forum’s initiative for young people.
