FERRERE worked with Google on all legal and regulatory aspects related to its recent announcement of the second data center investment in Latin America, which will involve an investment of over USD 850 million. This not only demonstrates Google’s commitment to the growth of digital infrastructure but also consolidates Uruguay as a strategic hub for innovation and connectivity in the region.
The construction is expected to take approximately 26 months, reaching peak work periods that will include up to 800 workers.
Currently, FERRERE continues to advise Google on investment matters, energy and regulatory aspects, real estate, permits, contract preparation, and other issues related to the project.
The official announcement of the start of construction was made on Thursday, August 29, at a ceremony attended by the President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, national and departmental officials, as well as regional authorities from the company, clients, and suppliers.
In this context, the President of Google Cloud Latin America, Eduardo López, emphasized that 'Uruguay has taken significant steps in both the development of reliable infrastructure and the training of local talent, making it an ideal partner for this project.'
The FERRERE team working alongside Google is led by the firm's Energy and Infrastructure partner, Gonzalo Secco, along with a large team of professionals: Isabel Laventure, Verónica Raffo, Diego Durán, Enrique Slekis, Laura Caffera, Agustina Pérez Lete, Santiago Rodríguez, Cristina Vázquez, Cristina Vignone, Alexandra Rovere and Mathías Rojas.
